Solaris Mobile Ltd is a next generation Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) operator engaged in enhancing mobile communications across Europe.

We provide network infrastructure services that support enhanced mobile communications across Europe. We use both satellites and terrestrial wireless systems to deliver a broad range of band-width-hungry applications to mobile devices; the satellites to provide broad coverage across the continent in a short time-frame, and the terrestrial wireless systems to penetrate buildings and city-centres.

Operating across the whole of the EC in frequency bands adjacent to the existing 3G mobile bands, our network will open up new opportunities to deliver next generation broadband and broadcast services, such as  video radio and high-speed data, to  smart phones, laptops and netbooks, PDA’s and suitably-equipped cars and trucks. This will provide European customers with the same broadband experience that is currently available to them in the home and office, when they are on the move.

Solaris Mobile is focused on three key markets; Mobile TV, Digital Radio & Vehicular Services and the Public Safety Sector. In 2009 the W2A satellite, carrying Solaris Mobile’s S-band payload, was launched from Baikonur in Kazakhstan and Solaris was awarded 30MHZ of paired MSS spectrum rights by the European Commission to operate satellite & terrestrial networks in all 27 EU member states. The integration of satellite and terrestrial components operating as a single hybrid network will provide a powerful and efficient way of delivering mobile services to people on the move in Europe.
